Albion Taking Quotes for Sidewalk Work

The Town of Albion partners with residents in a voluntary cost-sharing program where Albion property owners and the Town share in the cost of installing, or replacing sidewalks. The Town has a limited amount of funding to be used towards a 50% match every year, and offers the program on a first come, first served basis. 

Here is how the process works: fill out an application and submit it. The Town will compile the list of properties from residents with our plans for improving public sidewalks and put the entire group out for quotes with area contractors.  Often, this results in a cost savings over the estimate for replacing a single sidewalk. Once we have the estimates back, probably in mid-April, we will notify those who applied with the anticipated costs.  If you still want to proceed, we will take the entire package to the Town Council for final approval.  Those who participate will give a check for 50% of their anticipated cost to the Town and we'll hold that as a deposit until the work is done. The Town will pay the other half. 

We will offer two rounds this year, one in the spring and another in the fall.
